Mullum Mullum Indigenous Gathering Place

MMIGP MASTER LOGOThe idea for the establishment of the Mullum Mullum Indigenous Gathering Place Ltd (MMIGP) began around 1999-2000, when some members of the Indigenous community who reside in the inner suburbs of the Eastern Metropolitan areas of Melbourne were meeting socially at BBQ’s in the local parks.

The model for the MMIGP became reality in 2005 when a small number of the Indigenous community decided that there was a great need for a place to gather together and run Indigenous cultural activities that would meet the needs of the Indigenous families and community members in the Eastern Metropolitan Region. This model, based on the concept of the neighbourhood house has evolved over time according to identified need and gained much support from Government and members of the wider community of the region.
