The Workshop will focus on the foundations of good governance including roles and responsibilities of Board members, legal obligations, Annual General Meetings, Special General Meetings, models rules/ constitution, community control, succession planning, governance as leadership, effective Board and CEO relationships, Board meetings, understanding finance reports, strategic planning, dealing with disagreements and disputes, community engagement and Board review and evaluation.

An introductory governance workshop for Board Members, staff of Aboriginal organisations and Community members.
This 3 day workshop provides essential practical knowledge about being a Board Member of an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation.
The Workshop will provide practical information about good governance and being an effective Board Member.
NOTE: If you are not aged 18-25, or not living in the regions these workshops are being held in, don’t worry, just call us and we will do what we can to accommodate you.
Each day starts at 9am and finishes at 5pm
Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be provided.
All participants who complete the 3 day workshop will receive a certificate of participation and will be eligible for tailored support and/ or attend accredited training units offered by VACCHO.
All places are fully funded by Aboriginal Victoria. There are no cost to you to participate.
All reasonable travel costs will be reimbursed. Bring any receipts for that day’s fuel, taxi or public transport costs and we will organise reimbursements. If you require reimbursement for flights to the training, please contact us before booking the flights.
If you would like VACCHO to deliver other workshops, let us know. We need a minimum of 15 participants to go ahead with a workshop and can deliver in your region if there is sufficient interest.
