Culturally Safe GP Consultation with Victorian Aboriginal patients (DVD)

Aboriginal peoples in Victoria need to be able to access clinically excellent, culturally safe GPs and timely and effective primary care service is an important component of closing the gap in life expectancy between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal peoples. This DVD demonstrates an optimal culturally safe consultation with a Victorian Aboriginal patient.

Diabetes prevention and management

Family-focussed child nutrition programs

VACCHO works in partnership with the Better Health Company to deliver childhood nutrition training to Aboriginal health and early childhood practitioners.  Culturally appropriate child nutrition and physical activity resources have been developed for Koori families with young children.

Food security

Access to sufficient food is a universal human right. Despite this, Victorian Aboriginal people are more likely to experience food insecurity. To help address this VACCHO has partnered with SecondBite, a food rescue organisation who redistribute surplus fresh food to local agencies such as Aboriginal Community organisations.
